Shinhan Hi-Point card, high discount rate, discount for all member stores, credit card recommendation

"Shinhan Hi-Point card"

Today, I'm posting a recommendation for Shinhan credit card that I use as my main card.

▶ Shinhan Hi-Point Card Series
a. Shinhan Hi-Point card
b. Shinhan Hi-Point nano card
c. Shinhan Hi-Point nano f card

Today I will talk about "a. Shinhan Hi-Point card", Because the other 2 credit cards are no longer be issued.

My Shinhan Hi-Point card series is two of my four main cards. (The remaining two are Lotte Card)

shinhan hi point card

If you use this card for 1.5 million won in the previous month, you can get below benefits;
(1) All merchants: 2% points (discount)
(2) Some merchants: 5% points (discount)
(3) Overseas use: 5% points (discount)
(4) Points: By monthly, cash can be deposited into my account (and therefore, this points accumulation is no different from a discount, not accumulation only). So I wrote "(discount)" next to the points.)
(5) Annual membership fees are cheap

( The percentage of points accumulation will be lowered if you use less than 1.5 million won last month, but these credit cards are good, so you better take it as major card and use more than 1.5 million won per month.)

The difference between the three Shinhan Hi-Point series is:
The credit card available places of the above "(2) 5% points (discount)" are different from each other, and the rest are almost the same.

The key attraction of the Shinhan Hi-Point series : I colored as orange.

(1) All merchants: 2% points (discount)

It's not common earning 2% for all merchants by using credit card.
Most of them are 0.7~0.8%.
By the way, 2%?

I don't know any better one than this.
If you know a credit card with a discount of more than 2% at all shops, please let me know in the reply.

(Mostly, the discount on most of other credit cards is limited to certain merchants. And in this case, the discount rate is 10 ~ 20%.
But, ordinary people don't go to same merchants every month, so it's hard to get all those benefits.)

Thus, credit cards with sufficient discounts at all merchants, such as Shinhan Hi-Point (High Point) cards, receive more discounts in terms of actual total amount of payment a month.

So I recommend it.

Furthermore,

(2) Some merchants: 5% points (discount)

Some department stores, big marts, some online shopping malls, and smartphone charges are 5% off.
Among them, marts and smartphones are thought to be what most people spend on those every month.

That is to say, all merchants are based on 2% and some are added 3% more, then 5% (discount).
The overall earned (discount) rate for this card will be over 2%.
(In fact, many credit cards actually earn less than 1% (discount) in terms of the actual discount rate in total monthly usage, and even 2%? It's even rarer

By the way, actual discount rate in total monthly usage of  'Shinhan Hi-Point series' is over 2% and over 3%.

(3) Overseas use: 5% points (discount)

This is the one of the key attraction.

Do you travel abroad a lot these days?
Is there another card that gives you a 5% discount for overseas use?
Please reply to me if you know one.

It's rare for credit cards to proivide (discounted) at this level for overseas usage.

Personally, I go abroad often.
I think, the number one credit card for overseas use is the Shinhan Hi-Point series card.

Also, this card is always the top priority even when buying more and more overseas direct shopping.

(4) Points: Every Month, the Points can be deposited into my account.

The accumulated points are hard to use? It's hard to find where to use the points?

Shinhan Card is not like that.

You can send the points to your account at every month.
- Using Shinhan Card points = Cash deposits.

Rather than paying with some points, it's always advantageous to just get cash.

Discounts or accruals will not be applied to this point if it is paid by the point user.
(For example, assuming that there is 10,000 won accumulated points, if you pay with 10,000 points at any shops, you give up 2% of the accumulation of points(discount) for this 10,000 WON. If you just pay with a credit card, you earn 2%, but if you pay with points, you give up 2%, so as a result, the effect of this payment with points will be the same as you have accumulated of 9,800 WON, (not 10,000 WON) excluding 2% from 10,000 WON).

So, it's best to get credit card points in cash.

If the point is over 1 WON, you can make a deposit to your account. (Ordinary all other credit card companies allow it from at least 10,000 ~ 50,000 WON, and in fact, it's hard to find other credit card companies and credit card products that provide deposit point to cash.)

It's an incomparable charm or this credit card.

(5) Low annual fee

Usually, credit cards with good discount conditions, the annual fee is also high. So some of the discounts are to be decreased as the annual fee amount, by calculation.

However,
- Shinhan Hi-Point card annual fee: 10,000 WON/year (available overseas)
10,000 WON for such a good benefit of credit card?

I also use several other credit cards, but only Shinhan Hi-Point card asks for the lowest annual membership fee among the good condition cards.

The annual fee for domestic use only is 8,000 won/year,
But, one of the major charm of this credit card is to receiving 5% in overseas use.

The VISA or Master Platinum version is 15,000 won/year, and you can choose depending on your preference.
I already have VISA Platinum and VISA Signature Card on another card, so I don't have to add platinum service to Shinhan Card, so I'm using it as a normal credit card.

(However, according to the Shinhan card homepage, there is an annual fee exemption event for new issuance.)

Additionally,
Another key attraction of this card is that I didn't specify above;

(6) Discount of 60 won per liter from S-Oil, Hyundai Oil bank

I like this policy of discounts.
In the case of Seoul, I know that SK gas stations have a very poor cost-effectiveness.
Generally, SK gas stations are expensive. By the way, looking at the car-related information, I know that SK gas station is the lowest quality among 3 gas stations compared to S-Oil and Hyundai Oil bank based on octane content.
So, I don't really go to SK gas station.
By the way, this Shinhan Hi-Point series offers discounts at S-Oil and Hyundai Oilbank only.

It's perfect for me.

Also, I think it would be perfect if someone who thinks the same as me about quality and price of each gas stations.

(7) Convenient to fill previous month's performance

A. Include earned (discount) usage in last month's card usage record
- Many credit cards calculate their usage record except the usage of received benefits at previous month.
By the way, this credit card provides 2% of accumulation of points (Discount) for all merchants, so regardless of whether the previous month's usage with earned points(discounted) or not, it is included.

B. Last month's card usage record includes tax payment usage.
 - Motor taxes, property taxes, etc. and more, we pay it sometimes.
You can't accumulate points in the case of payment at taxes, but this card includes your use at tax previous month. This is also very important. Because it is easier to fill the previous month's usage record(performance).
(Such as KB Wise Home Credit Card, which I used to use, excluded it from the previous month's performance. Many other cards also exclude tax payment.)

▶ Aggregate earned points (discount) total)

As shown above, based on 2% and 5% of accumulating points(discounts) are aggregated, as a result, I receive about 3~33% of points (discounts) of Shinhan Card's total monthly usage.
The accumulated amount is deposited into my account every month.

- Monthly point accumulation limit: 50,000 won.

Therefore,
I spend a little over 1.5 million won a month on this Shinhan Hi-Point series.
If you spend this much a month, you will earn about 50,000 won, the point limit. (I have a high proportion of 5% accumulating points(discounts). So I have received 50,000 won deposit every month. 600,000 won a year.)
If you spend more than 1.5 to 2 million won/month, the points will not be be bigger than 50,000 won, so you better use another card from over 1.5 to 2 million won.

So, I use two Shinhan cards as my main card.
In addition, two Lotte cards are used as the main card.
Also, I use some other credit cards as minor usage.

If you know a Korean credit card with an annual fee of 10,000 won with a discount of about 3~3.33% from the total amount of credit card use, please let me know in the comments.
(Actually, there is another credit card that is as good as good as this.
I will tell you about Lotte Card tomorrow. The discount rate for Lotte Card that I use is also high.)

In addition to the above-mentioned statements, there are some more benefits in Shinhan Hi-Point card.
It would be convenient to check the details on the Hi-Point card on the Shinhan Card homepage.

▶ Suitable users for the Shinhan Hi-Point card

A. In point of view of Using place
- Person who use credit card in various places. (A person with no consistent spends at a few areas with large sum.)
- Person who travels abroad. Person who often pays for overseas online direct purchases.

B. In point of view of Amount of usage
As I explained above,
Since this card is better be used around 1.5 to 2 million won per month,
- Those who spend less than 1.5 to 2 million won per month : Recommend products like Lotte Card that I will introduce tomorrow. Or, even if the amount of usage is less than 1.5 million won, the rate of accumulation point is not bad, and the annual fee is cheap, so even if your amount is small, it can be used as a main card. It's up to you..
- Person who spends between 1.5 million won to 2 million won per month: Use as a main card
- People who spend more than 1.5 million won to 2 million won per month: Use as one of the main cards

I'll see you again tomorrow.

Thank you.
